General Description:

The HSE Advisor is responsible for the success of CCI Industrials (CCI) safety management program, in accordance with all contract, EPA and OSHA requirements. This position requires conducting, coordinating and tracking training, employee mentoring, incident investigation, basic sampling, and record keeping for CCI employees and projects including: client courses, company safety training, and atmospheric detection and other protective equipment.

This position will work closely with the HSE Director and Operational Leadership to analyze corporate and client policies for effectiveness and be part of the decision-making process for strategic annual and short-term goals.

This position is required to spend time in the field on a frequent basis.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Implement and maintain company safety programs.
Assist in continually forming and complying with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift.
Schedule and oversee training courses in compliance with OSHA, company and client course standards.
Track employee records and ensure that all employees are compliant and up to date on all HSE and training requirements.
Audit CCI jobsites for hazard recognition and evaluate hazard mitigation techniques as it relates to personnel and health concerns.
Audit company specific THA's on a regular basis to ensure they are being completed in accordance with client and CCI HSE standards and protocols.
Active involvement with case management of all injuries, incidents, spills and equipment damage. Compile documentation, lead incident investigation and determine root causes as needed by CCI and client.
Communicate daily with CCI employees and clientele.
Maintain 100% “Compliance Readiness” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements.
Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
+ Compliance with required HSE training. + Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe. + Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly. + Facilitating CCI safety meetings. + Responsible for being involved with investigations, witness statements, traction reports and communications with Management. + Provide case management on the North Slope and coordinate with North Slope Operations and Anchorage office supervision. + Perform Jobsite walk-downs with the foreman to provide a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for the work to be completed. + Ensure hazard identification, scope of work steps or phases and job staffing are communicated and documented in the JSA. Ensure proper signatures and facilitation of the JSA roll out at appropriate work locations. + Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response-related equipment, policies and procedures at all times. + Maintain legible and accurate records such as training rosters. + Facilitate client risk assessment processes for company projects. + Must be comfortable with speaking to personnel at all levels of the organization.

Must have excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills that include good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations and diverse personalities.

Extensive computer experience, including the ability to administer online training, generate data analysis reports and use Microsoft Office. Proficiency tests in Excel, Word and PowerPoint may be administered during the final stages of the interview process to validate candidate's skills in each area.
Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely in a small office environment.
Knowledge of company HSE processes and procedures.
Technical writing skills for program development, client communications and formal investigations.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.


Requirements:


Required Qualifications:

Nationally recognized certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHMM, OHST and CHST.
5 years' + experience in dedicated HSE specific role
High school diploma or GED
A valid driver's license
Proficient in Microsoft suite
NSTC card required for all North Slope positions


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience Conducting competency assessments (Loader, Rigging, Forklift, etc.)
Experience with ISNetworld, EHS Insight or other electronic HSE Management systems.
Enrolled in a 4-year degree in Safety, Environmental, Health, Business or Science fields preferred with at least 5 years HSE field experience and a minimum of three years of supervisor experience. 2-year degrees will be considered only if they are directly related to occupational safety and health and meet or exceed the required years of experience.

This is a full-time position assigned to the North Slope, AK.
The position is on-call 24 hours/day while on shift. Flexibility regarding hours of work is required as needed to meet demands of the job. Position may be reassigned at any time to meet operational objectives.
Position may be exposed to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works at the construction site. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles in a mechanical shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection and the use of safety eyewear is required in most working situations.


Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.
VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.
LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
