Tacoma Power's Generation Section is seeking an experienced Hydropower Operations and Maintenance Manager. This position is based near Shelton, Washington near both the scenic Olympic Peninsula and Hood Canal.
As the manager you will lead over 20 hydropower project staff to operate and maintain powerhouses, dams, reservoirs, lands and all other related facilities in a safe, environmentally-responsible, reliable and cost-effective manner while complying with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements. You will also provide maintenance support to multiple fisheries facilities including hatcheries and fish passage infrastructure. Your role is to empower and support your staff by equipping them with the tools, equipment and training needed to meet goals, maintenance schedules, and budget expectations through sound resource planning and provision.
Tacoma Power is a municipally-owned electric utility serving approximately 195,000 retail customers across a service area of 180 square miles and is considered one of three key operating divisions of Tacoma Public Utilities. Tacoma Power employs approximately 890 employees, more than 200 of which are in the Generation Section. The Cushman Hydro Project includes roughly 140 megawatts of power generation, two dams, two fish hatcheries, fish passage facilities and wildlife lands. This position also provides administrative and maintenance support for the Wynoochee River Project, a remote site near Montesano, WA.
Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, economics, finance, accounting, engineering, project management or directly related field
6 years of power industry experience directly related to area of assignment, including 1 year of experience as supervisor, manager or SME
Some positions may require individuals to complete annual CIP training after employment and pass a comprehensive personal risk assessment (background check) prior to employment and every five years thereafter as required by federal regulatory requirements (NERC-CIP)
*Equivalency: 1 year of experience = 1 year of education
