About This Job

Job Overview:

The Hydrostatic Tester is responsible for safely and accurately performing hydrostatic pressure tests on welded spools, piping, and other fabricated equipment to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry standards. This role also involves verifying dimensions against blueprints, maintaining detailed records, and safely handling materials using forklifts and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

•

Perform hydrostatic pressure tests on spools, piping, and other pressure-containing equipment.

•

Follow test procedures, pressure requirements, and safety protocols in accordance with customer specifications and applicable codes (e.g., ASME, API).

•

Inspect test setups to ensure proper connections and safety precautions are in place before pressurizing.

•

Fill test pieces with water and use pumps to reach required pressure levels.

•

Monitor gauges and hold pressure for the required test duration to identify potential leaks or weaknesses.

•

Read and interpret fabrication blueprints and drawings.

•

Use measuring tools to verify that spools and assemblies are built to correct dimensions and specifications before testing.

•

Identify and report any dimensional or build errors prior to hydrotesting.

•

Accurately document test data, pressure readings, test durations, and results on required forms.

•

Keep detailed, organized records for each spool tested to support traceability and quality control audits.

•

Ability to operate a forklift safely.

•

Drain and clean tested units as needed after completion of testing.

•

Report any nonconformities, defects, or failures to supervisors and quality control personnel.

•

Maintain testing equipment, tools, and work area in safe and clean condition.

•

Follow all company safety rules, including the use of PPE and lockout/tagout procedures.

Requirements:

•

High school diploma or GED (preferred).

•

Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of pressure systems.

•

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and test procedures.

•

Strong measuring skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

•

Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain clear, complete records.

•

Experience with hydrostatic testing or pressure equipment is a plus.

•

Comfortable working around high-pressure systems and in industrial environments.

•

Safety-focused and reliable team player.

Physical Requirements:

•

Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds regularly.

•

Must be okay with standing in one place for extended periods, staying focused and productive throughout the shift.

•

Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to catch any and all errors in dimensions, build quality, or pressure test results.

•

Must be able to check all flanges for proper two-hole alignment and other critical fit-up details.

•

Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, sometimes in varying weather conditions.

•

Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and use measuring tools consistently throughout the day.
