Muscatine Power and Water - Summer Internship in the Engineering Department

The Muscatine Power and Water (MPW) Engineering Department Internship does not require prior knowledge but will help the selected person gain a better understanding of the utility’s operations. The intern will have access to support and resources as needed and will have an opportunity for independent work.


Job Description:

Provide field assistance for city projects
Provide GPS field assistance
Modeling, System Analysis, and Introductions to both the transmission and distribution electric systems
Customer power quality analyses and support
Transformer inventory to ensure accuracy and quick emergency response
Job shadow opportunities in Metering, Tech Services and Water departments


Resources:

All the members of the Engineering Department will support the intern and help answer questions as they come up. In addition, the group will meet weekly to track/steer project progress, identify tasks and additional resources needed for upcoming tasks.


Time Frame:

The intern is projected to work 40 hours/week for 10-12 weeks, beginning in late May, but some time off can be scheduled within that time frame.


Outcomes for the Intern:

Develop an understanding of how a utility’s Engineering Department operates through a hands-on learning opportunity.
