Intern EMS & SCADA Engineer

Tenaska is one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, an organization that’s adept in natural gas and power marketing, power management, development and acquisition of generation assets, operation of power plants and more.

The EMS SCADA Engineer – Intern will assist the EMS/SCADA team with the support, implementation, modification and maintenance of the Energy Management System (EMS)/Generation Management System (GMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and various other supporting applications. This position will operate in a cross functional capacity with daily interactions with EMS/SCADA Personnel, TPS Control Room Operators, Energy Managers , IT Infrastructure, Network teams and customers.

- The EMS SCADA Engineer Intern can work effectively and efficiently with minimum to moderate oversight and also responds well to task assignment. He/she is able to initiate the appropriate effort when necessary to achieve the expected results from various business units. - The EMS SCADA Engineer Intern is able to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues with confidence and fortitude. He/she is willing to take on complex problems and see them through to successful resolution as part of the EMS team.

- The EMS SCADA Engineer Intern uses effective communication skills to relay technical information appropriately within the organization. He/she is able to communicate with other technically proficient personnel outside of the organization in order to reach effective solutions to issues, new customer deployments, and various other business needs.

- The EMS SCADA Engineer Intern displays the ability to work effectively in a team environment. He/she practices good interpersonal, listening, and compromise skills to reach the best solutions available for the organization and/or other parties involved.

Physical Demands

Ability to use standard office equipment such as PC, telephone, calculator, printer, copy and fax machines. Position may require extended work hours on short notice. All work will be performed in an indoor office environment and may require extended periods of sitting, standing and bending and typing/data entry. The job may also include driving, and airline travel. Travel may be required to attend meetings in other office buildings including local and domestic.
