We are currently hiring for 1 Electrician to join the maintenance team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, Ontario.

Compass Minerals’ Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products. Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE TEAM?

This position, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, will be responsible for the; maintenance, repair and installation work of mining infrastructure. The positions will also be responsible for manning the various fixed plant services on site.

•

Maintenance of mining electrical equipment

•

Reliability improvement of mining electrical equipment

•

Working on the electrical component of various projects as required

•

Maintenance of electrical distribution equipment and troubleshooting of electrical distribution and mining equipment

•

Troubleshooting and maintaining the plant control network

•

Required to work on portable sub-station relocation as well as with HV and MV cable splicing

•

Other duties as required

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?

•

High School Diploma, coupled with an Industrial Electrician License (442A) or Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A)

•

Valid Driver’s License.

•

Experience as an Electrician in the mining industry, or a similar heavy industrial environment.

•

Experience on PLC systems.

•

Experience on VFD & Electronic Soft Start Systems.

•

Experience in Medium and High Voltage Systems.

•

Red Seal Certified preferred.

WHAT IS THE WORK SCHEDULE?

•

This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends, days, and nights. Shift schedule is subject to change to meet operational requirements.

•

This position is expected to work underground or on surface.

•

If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate.
