The Lab Techs conduct lab tests that involve mainly cement, water and oilfield chemicals by following standard lab testing procedures. Input lab data into the proper database file, make plots of data, record observations in lab notebook, capture and process pictures. Compile test and project results into client reports. Order lab supplies and maintain laboratory safety and cleanliness.
Duties relating to lab testing include mixing chemicals with water to make fluids, mixing fluids with rock samples, operate standard oilfield lab equipment such as a cement consistometers, ovens and water baths, bench top rheometers (viscometers), fluid flow apparatus, analytical testing kit, water analysis kit, etc.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the environment is moderate to loud.
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, lift up to 25 pounds. Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell; lift more than 50 pounds. The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
