About This Job

Connexus Energy is looking to fill multiple openings for a seasonal Apprentice Lineman to assist our line crews, while gaining experience, in all aspects of safe construction and maintenance of our electrical distribution system. This opening is anticipated to start working in early June with the assignment ending in late November. Normal hours will occur between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. with emergency or scheduled work on holidays, weekends or any time of the day, if needed.

Compensation:

The hourly wage for this position is $33.83 per hour in accordance with the union contract.

In this position you will:

•

Build overhead electrical distribution systems within the appropriate specifications, guidelines and standards.

•

Build underground electrical distribution systems within the appropriate specifications, guidelines and standards.

•

Maintain the electrical distribution system to ensure its safety and reliability while minimizing any disruption of service.

•

Restore power in a safe and timely manner.

Need to have:

•

High school or GED diploma AND Electrical Lineworker Diploma

•

Successfully completed energized line work training in an accredited program

•

Current and valid Class A Driver’s License

•

Valid DOT card

•

First Aid and CPR Certified

•

Bucket and pole top rescue certified within the standards accepted by Connexus Energy

•

Mechanical aptitude to operate various machines and equipment such as bucket truck, digger truck, cable plow and backhoe

•

Ability to read and understand written work documents such as charts, diagrams, schematics and staking sheets

•

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with crew members, Connexus Energy employees, other utilities, customers and governmental officials

•

Ability to work well as part of a team

•

Ability to work overtime and various work shifts

Nice to have:

•

Excellent driving record to ensure company vehicle is driven in a safe and professional manner

•

This position is not eligible for Connexus Energy benefit plans but is eligible for Emergency Sick and Safe Time as required under Minnesota State Statute.
