Position Overview: As a Machinist at Vulcan Metals Corp. based in Tacoma, Washington, you will play a crucial role in the production process, operating various machinery to manufacture precision components for our diverse range of products. You will work as part of a skilled team in a dynamic manufacturing environment, contributing to the production of high-quality parts that meet customer specifications and quality standards.



Primary Responsibilities:

Run & operate medium to large Conventional Vertical Lathe’s & Horizontal Boring Machines along with miscellaneous lathes & milling operations.
Set-up and program machine equipment
Work to hold Scheduling and maintain a good workflow
Create maintenance work orders as needed to keep the equipment and tools in good working order
Perform preventative maintenance necessary for the Machine Tool
Participate in cost saving or process improvement projects
Maintain good housekeeping at your work station
Immediately correct safety issues that are within your area and alert management to any safety issues that need further attention


Qualifications:

Self-motivated and able to work well with others
Advance blueprint reading and basic understanding of geometric dimension tolerancing
Ability to use various methods of measurement tools
Excellent written and verbal communication
Strives for accuracy and compliance
Able to wear all required personal protective equipment
Understanding of all the basics and advance tooling application on conventional and CNC machine workstations
Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division


Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent
Apprenticeship certificate or equal is a plus
Experience running and operating conventional medium to large vertical lathes & horizontal boring machines with programming at the machine tool work station preferred


Skills and Knowledge:

Prefer computer skills knowledge
Strong mathematical skills
CNC Programming


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to use arms, hands, legs and feet in repetitive motions
Must be able to twist, stoop, bend, and stand in the performance of job duties
Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk on concrete floors and uneven surfaces for the duration of the shift

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM

Pay Range: $25.67 - $40.41/hr(depending on experience)
