The Mechanical General Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily
execution of mechanical construction activities in energy infrastructure projects. This role
ensures that piping, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, HVAC systems, pile driving,
racking, and module installations are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in
compliance with industry standards. The Mechanical General Foreman supervises field crews,
enforces safety regulations, ensures quality control, and supports the Mechanical
Superintendent in delivering successful projects across power plants, oil & gas facilities, solar
farms, wind farms, substations, and transmission & distribution projects.
Supervise the installation of piping systems, pressure vessels, pumps, valves,
Oversee pile driving, racking, and module installations in solar and wind energy
Ensure proper execution of welding, bolting, torque tightening, and mechanical
Coordinate with civil, electrical, and safety teams to align mechanical work with overall
Monitor installation of mechanical supports, hangers, pipe racks, and structural
Enforce OSHA, ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), API (American
Petroleum Institute), NEC (National Electrical Code), and NFPA safety standards.
Conduct daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
Ensure proper implementation of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space
Ensure compliance with hot work permits, welding safety, and heavy lifting
Investigate and report any mechanical-related safety incidents or near misses.
Supervise pipefitters, welders, millwrights, riggers, HVAC technicians, pile driving
Assign daily tasks to field crews based on project priorities and deadlines.
Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and performance evaluations for mechanical
Monitor crew productivity and adjust labor allocation to optimize efficiency.
Oversee the operation and maintenance of welding machines, torque wrenches,
Ensure proper delivery, handling, and installation of mechanical components and
Track and manage inventory of pipes, fittings, HVAC units, racking materials, and
Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure material availability and prevent
Conduct on-site inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, project
Work with QA/QC teams to oversee pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, torque
Ensure all mechanical components meet design specifications, tolerances, and
Address and resolve mechanical punch list items and installation issues before project
Work closely with the Mechanical Superintendent and Project Manager to maintain
Monitor work progress and adjust crew assignments, workflows, and schedules as
Report any installation challenges, material shortages, or equipment failures to
Provide daily progress reports to the Mechanical Superintendent and Project
Document workforce hours, completed tasks, equipment usage, and material
Communicate safety concerns, design changes, and operational challenges to
Attend project coordination meetings to discuss upcoming tasks and resource needs.
Experience: 8+ years in mechanical construction, with experience in energy projects
(renewables, power generation, oil & gas, transmission & distribution).
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (trade certifications or technical training
The Mechanical General Foreman plays a key role in ensuring that all mechanical
installations, structural components, and energy systems are properly assembled, tested, and
operational. This position is crucial in solar farms, wind projects, oil & gas facilities, and
power generation plants, where precision, safety, and efficiency are essential to project success
