We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Mine Training Supervisor. Please note that this is not a fly-in, fly-out position and will be based in Labrador West, NL requiring candidates to work a 7-days on/7-days off (12-hour rotation – days). Non-local candidates are eligible for relocation assistance.


Job Responsibilities:

Inspire and drive employee engagement, productivity, performance, and continuous improvement.

Accomplishes results by communicating job expectations, shift plans, monitoring results, coaching and developing employees, initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
Communicates freely and effectively with cross-shifts, management personnel, and crew members.
Ensures employees understand the Short-Term Incentive (STI) and how each team member impacts it.
Monitor the progress of daily activities, deal with any identified obstacles that limit productivity, and conduct site visits to ensure that all assigned work is performed in a safe and environmentally conscientious manner.
Coordinate training and approve sign-off of mine operators on operations and procedures of various heavy equipment.
Ensure that operators diligently complete mobile equipment inspection sheets every shift.
Instill and maintain a culture of high-performance teamwork amongst employees.
Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs and maintains a clean and safe work environment;
Supports efforts and implementation of dust control solutions at all times while on shift.
Fills the role of crew shift supervisor if required.
Provides support in the coordination of other mine activities as required.


Skills and Qualifications:


Working knowledge of mine operations including heavy equipment operation, safety, maintenance, and staff utilization.

Previous supervisory experience.
Previous experience on shovels (especially hydraulic) would be considered an asset.
Previous experience on rotary and hammer drills would be considered an asset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to effectively train and mentor employees.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
Excellent work ethic, and attendance record.
Able to work 12-hour shifts, 7 on, 7 off.


Education & Experience:


Completion of a Heavy-Duty Equipment Operator Program from a recognized educational facility would be considered an asset (work experience will also be considered).

Applicable provincial and inter-provincial certifications would be considered an asset.
Train the trainer or other leadership training would be an asset.
A commercial drivers license (class 1/3), along with class 8 and 9 will be taken into consideration.
