Fairfax Water has an immediate opening for a

Networking/Telecommunications Analyst I

. Under close supervision of the Supervisor, Networking & Operations performs entry-level network operations and/or telecommunication support to ensure proper computer operation to accomplish business tasks.

Essential functions include:

· Performs cable routing and termination, equipment installation, configuration, labeling and documentation.

· Administer and maintain user accounts in Active Directory, SAP and other systems.

•

Review new technology and upgrades for client workstations and communication devices. Prepare recommendations for supervisor approval.

•

Maintain and support wireless communication devices.

•

Maintain and support audio visual equipment.

•

Provision new phone handsets and manage moves and changes.

•

Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation.

•

Field help requests from end users via telephone and e-mail in a courteous manner.

· Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution.

· Perform desktop level fixes, including install and upgrade software, install hardware, implement file backups, and configure systems and applications.

Requirements:

•

Possession of an associate degree in Computer Science or related field and two years’ experience in direct user, network and/or telecommunications support or a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

•

Basic knowledge of data communications protocols and industry standards such as intranet and internet.

•

Basic knowledge of hardware and software, cabling, power requirements, ancillary equipment, and how they relate to network operations and/or telecommunications systems.

•

Working technical knowledge of network and desktop computer operating systems.

•

Experience with desktop operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 7 or later in a Microsoft Active Directory environment.

•

Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Office.

•

Experience with Apple IOS products and services.

•

Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.

•

Familiarity with desktop computers in a network environment.

•

Must pass a controlled substance (drug) test for employment.

•
