Position Summary

The Payroll Specialist will hold a critical and high-level position in managing the payroll process for Pinnacle Propane. This role requires independent decision-making, a thorough understanding of payroll regulations, and a high level of confidentiality in handling sensitive information. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and will serve as a key resource for both internal stakeholders and employees. This position also requires initiative and autonomy in improving payroll processes and systems, as well as supporting the HR team with strategic administrative tasks.


Essential Job Responsibilities

Manage and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees, exercising independent judgment in ensuring the accuracy of hours worked, overtime calculations, and deductions.
Collaborate with the HR team in managing employee lifecycle changes, such as new hires, terminations, and modifications in pay or benefits, utilizing judgment to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Provide expert-level responses to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholding.
Contribute to the continuous improvement and refinement of payroll processes and systems, implementing changes that enhance efficiency and compliance.
Maintain payroll records, including employee information, tax documentation, and benefits enrollment.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Support the HR team with administrative tasks as needed.


Qualifications

Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field,
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing or a related administrative role, with a demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making.
Working knowledge of payroll software (experience with ADP is a plus).
Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations and tax laws.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data management and reporting.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
A proactive approach to problem-solving and a willingness to adapt to changes.


Travel and Hours

This position is located in Irving, TX.
In-office position.
Schedule: 8AM-5PM; Monday - Friday.
