Plant Mechanic I: $21.68 - $27.09 Hourly

Plant Mechanic II: $24.82 - $33.08 Hourly

Senior Plant Mechanic: $26.55 - $35.39 Hourly

The purpose of this position is to perform preventive and reactive maintenance on wastewater and water plant systems. This is accomplished by performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks and troubleshooting / repairing electrical and mechanical systems. Gathering data and preparing specifications, obtaining quotes and ordering material. Other duties include reviewing O&M manuals and creating preventative maintenance task instructions; managing credit card statements; remaining standby and instructing subordinate maintenance personnel.

Essential Functions Plant Mechanic I, Essential Functions:

Repairs and replaces various equipment by utilizing heavy truck cranes, hand tools, and electrical components associated with the equipment; performs safety procedures such as lock-out tag-out; intervene and replace submersible pumps, check valves, pipes, valves, etc. for troubleshooting them; monitors motor and pumps oil conditions and the correct operational level, replace pumps and motors power cords, protection sensors and associated equipment components.
Electrical troubleshoots using the megohmmeter and amp-meter; perform 3-phase connections and wiring; float switches, transducers diagnosis, and replacement; equipment schematic diagrams reading and interpretation.
Maintain stationary and portable generators, inspect your assigned vehicle, crane, lights, gauges, tires, tools, oils, belts, etc., and follow the TOHO, state laws, and driving policies.
Performs monthly PM works and reports for diagnosis, administrative work by conducting preventative maintenance programs for diagnosis, to avoid major equipment failures; basic acknowledgment in SCADA Word and Excel; creates and answers e-mails; opens and closes work orders in our new maintenance PM program; attends monthly safety meetings; and oversees cell phones, and radios. Respond to any operational emergency promptly and identify priorities.
All other duties as assigned.


Plant Mechanic II, Essential Functions

Repair and replace various equipment by utilizing heavy truck cranes, hand tools, and electrical components associated with the equipment; perform safety procedures such as lock-out tag-out; intervene and replace submersible pumps, check valves, valves, etc. for troubleshooting them; inspect motor and pumps oil conditions and the correct operational level, replace pumps and motors power cords, protection sensors and associated equipment components.
New or repair equipment installation such as a flowmeter, including maintenance and dismantling. Interpret construction drawings; identify pumps, drivers, valves, and their installation and troubleshooting practices; create pipe fittings, perform cutting, treading, and joining of piping components; perform hydrostatic and pneumatic testing; remove, troubleshoot, and install bearings and couplings; identify components and functions of high and low-pressure water systems; layout and install baseplates and soleplates, with proper alignment methods; troubleshoot, repair and assembly equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, impellers and belt drives in all brands and sizes.
Electrical VFDs and soft starters troubleshoot using the megohmmeter and amp-meter; perform 3-phase connections and motors and pumps wiring; float switches, transducers diagnosis and replacement; equipment diagrams or schematic reading and interpretation. Capable of making recommendations and changes to improve the equipment operation. Identify recurring failures and try to minimize them to bring the operational area a budget saving.
Performs monthly PM works, reports and administrative work by conducting predictive and preventative maintenance programs for the equipment diagnosis, to avoid major failures. Be learning the supervisor duties to assist him in his absent.
Basic SCADA interpretation, Word and Excel; creates and answers e-mails; opens and closes work orders in our new maintenance PM program; attends monthly safety meetings; and oversees cell phones and radios. Respond to any operational emergency promptly and identify priorities. Ensure your coworker's safety and assist him/her in his/her daily learning.
Maintain stationary and portable generators, inspect your assigned vehicle, crane, lights, gauges, tires, tools, oils, belts, etc., and follow the TOHO, state laws, and driving policies.
Resolve the different operational problems effectively and in a reasonable time to avoid interruptions in water distribution service and in compliance with the regulatory agencies.
All other duties as assigned.


Senior Plant Mechanic, Essential Functions

Advance knowledge repairing and replacing various equipment by utilizing heavy truck cranes, hand tools, and electrical components associated with the equipment; perform safety procedures such as lock-out tag-out; intervene and replace submersible pumps, check valves, valves, etc. for troubleshooting them; inspect motor and pumps oil conditions and the correct operational level, replace pumps and motors power cords, protection sensors and associated equipment components.
Strong knowledge with the new or repair equipment installation such as a flowmeter, including maintenance and dismantling. Minimum Qualifications Plant Mechanic I:

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
Minimum of one-year work experience with a focus on pump, motors, and/or controls.
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate’s ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
A CDL Class A with Hazmat License is preferred but not required. Must be able to obtain State of Florida Class A Driver's License within first six months of employment.


Plant Mechanic II

A minimum of a high school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
Minimum of three years relevant work experience working in either a utility or Industrial setting with a focus on motors, pumps, piping and control.
Any combination of education and experience which demonstrates the candidate’s ability to perform successfully in this position will be considered.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
As a condition of employment, must obtain State of Florida Class A Driver's License within first six months of employment.
