We are currently seeking a 4th Class Power Engineer Trainee to join our Utilities Department in Thompson, Manitoba.
As a 4th Class Power Engineer Trainee, you will be responsible to work and train to achieve your 4th Class Power Engineer certification within 6 months from the start of the program. During this time, you will be offered the opportunity to gain the required steam time (1,000 hours) in a Class 1 plant and the required hands-on training in operation of plant equipment: boilers, air compressors, cooling tower, water filtration/supply discharge systems and other related power and plant services and equipment.
During the process of obtaining their 1,000 hours of hands-on training, the trainees will be expected to write the Provincial Exam. After the completion of the Provincial Exam and required steam time (1,000 hours) the Trainees apply for and receive a 4th Class Power Engineer certification through Government of Manitoba Inspection and Trade Services (ITS). This will result in a Return of service agreement and registration for the 3rd Class Power Engineer Trainee program. The objective of this program is to build a strong team of 3rd Class Power Engineers withing the Vale Manitoba operations.
To register for the 4th Class Power Engineer Trainee program, the potential candidates are selected during a prescreening/interview process to then conduct an online assessment process consisting of 5 tests, with 7-12 questions per test. The estimated duration to complete the assessment testing is 55-75 minutes. The best candidates will be presented with the opportunity to join Vale.
No industrial experience is required, experience is an asset but not a prerequisite.
