Summary:
Wyandotte Technologies, a leading provider of professional services and solutions to the Department of Energy, has a long-term opportunity for an Electrical Engineer at the Western Area Power Administration, Sierra Nevada Region (WAPA-SNR) facility in Folsom, CA. This position is located in the Maintenance Engineering Office and provides technical leadership, direction of, and performs assignments involving matters pertaining to transmission lines and/or substations.
Responsibilities:
•
Provide Electrical Engineering to assist in the design, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancement of WAPA’s major capital improvement projects.
•
Coordinate project schedules and planning.
•
Review and develop design requirements based on system specifications, testing, and commissioning protection and control systems.
•
Develop cost estimates.
•
Conduct design, construction, and status meetings.
•
Facilitate the completion of assigned projects within established schedule and budget.
•
Perform technical planning analysis and troubleshooting to resolve existing system deficiencies.
•
Evaluate proposed test strategies and procedures.
•
Lead/support projects for additions, replacements, and modifications to both equipment and facilities.
•
Perform fault analysis, develop relay settings and maintain programs and equipment for protective relay circuits.
•
Provide technical support for protective relay schemes and control systems.
•
Develop and maintain records for substation equipment specifications, analysis, and maintenance for high voltage systems.
Qualifications:
•
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
•
A Professional California Engineer license is preferred.
•
Must have experience in the high voltage electric utility industry. At least ten (10) years is preferred.
•
Must have knowledge of the principles and practices necessary to assess protective relay and high voltage systems.
•
Must have the ability to perform detailed and complex calculations.
•
Must be a US citizen.
