Production Manager

Company Overview: The Ultra-Met Company is a manufacturer of tungsten carbide products for use in a wide range of industries such as the Government, automotive, aerospace, medical, petroleum, and woodworking industries. Our products primarily consist of cutting tools and wear products as well as specialty products. The manufacturing process involves the use of powder metals, pressing, forming, sintering, and grinding operations. We are a locally owned, privately held, long-term growth-oriented company. Summary: This position is responsible for the overall operation of the Government manufacturing department which produces high quantity/low variation parts. This includes capacity planning and execution to meet the production schedule. Required staffing, training and compliance with all applicable work rules and regulations. Develop and implement annual plans to achieve target business goals; output, productivity, scrap and yield, lead-time and on-time delivery, safety, quality, operating budget. Use and advocate Lean tools to continuously improve manufacturing performance. Specific responsibilities include:

Qualifications:

+ Ability to lead a team of 6-8 people

+ Ability to learn, operate, and then train new employees on precision manufacturing CNC equipment after completion of a formal training plan

+ Ability to “fill in” where needed due to unexpected shortage of manpower

+ Experience in interviewing and selecting new employees to join the Team

+ Drive performance improvements in quality and productivity through leadership, collaboration, and organization
