Position Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Program/Project Manager who will support the evolution of fleet at CPS Energy. This role will lead the specification process to ensure best unit is selected for a business area through evaluation of all but not limited to the following factors: cost, functionality, safety, and the environment. This role will work with employees across the organization and ensure fleet procurement contracts are developed and properly maintained. They will lead programs that are essential in daily operations and support decommissioning of vehicles that have reached their replacement point through evaluation of data and business input. Ensure budgetary requirements are met from a capitalization standpoint through partnerships with Property & Plant Accounting as well as working within the Fiscal Year constraints for recognizing costs when incurred.

This position will focus on tactical aspects of projects through the evaluation of job costs, productivity improvement and process efficiency associated with work performed. Communicate effectively with all levels of the CPS Energy organization. Participate in strategic team efforts and the development of departmental goals and objectives. Management of project deliverables, including satisfaction of scope requirements, cost/budget adherence, schedule management, risk evaluation and mitigation, and quality management.

Performs and/or maintains other administrative changes to formal/official material documentation and ensures compliance with regulatory agencies by creating and maintaining databases, documenting regulatory events, preparing required reports and assisting with regulatory inquiries and audits.


Tasks And Responsibilities

Leads multiple, cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Maintains relationships with customers and vendors through regular communication abiding by the Procurement Policy
Ensures compliance with Procurement Policy with no policy violations
Responsible for ensuring vehicles & equipment are in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) and Federal and State DOT requirements
Effectively participates in enhancing the electric vehicle, and both the fleet short and long term strategy
Responsible for adhering to Fleet Asset Management capital budget
Responsible for balancing business area requests & standardization
Works with team to meet project specifications, cost control and schedule objectives
Researches and implements new units or components requested by user areas (provides performance based and economic evaluations, selection, application, settings, operational analysis and maintenance practices of materials and devices)
Proposes, develops, modifies, leads, coordinates, creates, submits and distributes, procedures, benchmarking studies, unit specifications
Co leads management of contracts to include establishing and having visibility to the value/term
Evaluates mini bids and visits with offsite vendor to ensure specifications are met on new units
Receives and validates unit, keys, and paperwork when unit arrives to a CPS Energy location
Invoice payment is completed accurately and timely abiding by accounts payable policies
Unit master record has correct data and documentation attached in SAP
Provides leadership information and manages initiatives according to the organization’s project methodology
Ensures that projects meet expectations regarding schedule, budget, scope and quality through metrics and benchmarking.
Develops and submits business cases for projects.
Develops solutions to critical business issues and effectively recommends strategies and tactics
Ensures the integration of sound project management principles and practices into all projects.
Performs functions such as project management, program management, strategic planning and/or resource planning and budgeting.
Facilitates teams, including team chartering, group problem solving and/or process improvement work.
Develops documentation of business processes within applicable divisions.
Performs analysis of project data through report and data generation
Controls for processes to include the In Service Process
Specification adherence
May coordinate field activities as assigned
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Demonstrated ability and desire to coach and mentor individuals and teams to achieve increased competencies and effectiveness levels.

Demonstrated ability to facilitate team building with employees across various disciplines and at all levels, including ability to engage people in productive activities without formal authority.

Manage all phases of a project following established methodology with a considerable amount of autonomy.

Previous working experience with responsibility to corporate initiatives, employee programs, corporate affairs, project management, or a related role.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or related field from an accredited university or relevant work experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.

Working Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors. Requires use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Employee may potentially be exposed to outdoor weather, wet or humid conditions, noisy and dusty environment.

Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.


Physical Demands

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, walking and standing are required only occasionally, and if all other sedentary criteria are met.
