Job Overview
The Quality Control Inspector Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of quality control within our sister company, ALCO Industrial. This position requires a thorough understanding of all quality control subjects as they relate to pressure vessels. This individual will manage the quality control team and their workload. The Manager will be responsible for planning and ensuring that quality control is moving in a direction that fits with the organizational guidelines. This position will answer to senior management.
Responsibilities
•In-depth knowledge of all levels of Quality Control with a focus on management
•Direct day to day duties of the Quality Control team
•In-depth knowledge of Alberta P.E.S.R., P.W.R, CSA B.51, ASME BPV and all other pertinent Codes
•Ability to foresee potential problem areas and mitigate the impact
•Implementing quality assurance and control programs related to welding operations
•Knowledge to write weld procedures and review weld procedures written by Level 3 QC Inspectors
•Guide the audit process to meet the standards required by regulating association
•Conduct management duties including; competency training and testing, workforce planning, adhering to organizational guidelines, develop and revise company quality procedures and tracking processes
•Interface with Senior Management and high-profile customers
•Maintain the quality control system
•Provide solutions to quality control problems
•Review and approve subcontracted NDE service provider’s NDE procedures and personnel qualification procedures according to code requirements
•Review and approve heat treatment subcontractors heat treatment procedures according to code requirements
•Maintain a positive safe work environment
Skills and Key Criteria
•CWB certified welding inspector Level 2 or higher
•Strong managerial skills
•Excellent observational and analytical skills
•Ability to represent ALCO in the highest professional manner
•Ability to work with minimal supervision
•Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
•Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings
•Strong communication skills
•Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat
•Several years’ experience and in-depth knowledge of pressure vessel and heat exchanger fabrication
•Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while maintaining a safe work environment
•Safety sensitive position
