The Quality Control Inspector Level II is responsible for inspecting product quality within the plant and at times external to the plant, ensuring that product inspections and quality control procedures are carried through as defined in the product specs, and meet the standards required by the company and our customers/end-user.
Your Responsibilities Will Be
• Ensures the guidelines, procedures, specifications and reports in the product blueprints are executed at the plant level and works with Supervisors to submit suggested improvements to the Quality Manager and the Plant Manager as needed.
• Supports in the development of quality standards and helps to communicate them to all plant employees.
• Interprets test results, compares them to established specifications and control limits, and makes recommendations on appropriateness of data for release.
• Performs Level I & II visual inspections (VT) of in-process and finished products.
• Performs Level I & II penetrant testing (PT) on in-process and finished products.
• Performs Level I & II magnetic particle testing (MT) on in-process and finished products.
• Compiles test data and submits it to Level III (as needed) for analyses and approval.
• Completes documentation needed to support testing procedures, including data capture forms, equipment logbooks, or inventory forms.
• Trains associates and employees as needed.
• Works with incoming customer inspectors to support them with documentation, paperwork and questionnaires. Addresses the nonconformance that come from the audit.
• Participates in Quality Meetings and follows up on action items and improvements agreed upon.
• Provides Quality reference materials as needed, consisting of component standards, design folders, customer specifications, defect guides, etc.
• Support the Quality team in the writing and maintenance of quality procedures.
• Maintains new start-up approval process and ensures quick resolution of all nonconformances to specifications.
• Monitors and ensures clear rework/repair instructions are implemented to meet customer and compliance requirements.
• Reports quality issues at plant level and reports defects over allowable specifications to the Quality Manager and/or the Plant Manager and/or a Level III Inspector.
• Performs plant audits in a timely fashion so as to support the On-time Delivery of product.
• Maintains control of inspection, rework/repair, and reports details of quality issues.
• Enters data for daily incoming, in process, and final product audits in the appropriate logging tool per quality procedures. Follows record retention guidelines.
• Reviews quality audit data and acts with production team associates to make the necessary changes to improve product and process controls.
• Reports chronic quality control issues to Quality Manager and/or the Plant Manager.
• Support ISO Quality standards, ASME standards, and Nuclear standards with training, documenting, development, and improvements with the goal of meeting and exceeding these standards.
• Support Lean continuous improvement initiatives as requested or needed. Help with Gemba activities and make suggestions.
• Complies with company and safety guidelines.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned by the Quality Manager and/or the Plant Manager.
Required Qualifications
• A High School Diploma required.
• A minimum of 3+ years’ experience.
• A demonstrated track record of communicating and training plant associates to achieve the quality standards required.
• Experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is required.
• Displays the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Strong computer skills required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Experience in Lean manufacturing is preferred.
• An understanding of Quality standards (ISO, ASM, NQA) is a plus.
Licensing Or Certifications
• NDT certification training in VT, PT, MT is a plus.
• CWI certification is a plus.
Required Competencies, Skills & Abilities
• Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems, ADP, Epicor and/or D365 is beneficial.
• Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications.
• Materials - Knowledge of material, including their properties and interaction with other products in the system.
• English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.

• Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

• NDE - Level II in visual inspection (VT), Level II penetrant testing (PT), Level II magnetic particle testing (MT).
• Quality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
• Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
• Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Travel Requirement
• Some travel required within the metroplex.

Positions in this function typically require typing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
• Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.

• Standing/Walking: Frequently required to stand and walk for extended periods while performing inspections.
• Sitting: May be required to sit at a workstation for documentation and reporting tasks.
• Lifting/Carrying: Frequently required to lift material or products, with weight limits ranging from 10 lbs to 50 lbs.
• Manual Dexterity: Requires fine motor skills for handling small parts, operating inspection tools, and completing reports.
• Reaching/Bending: Regularly required to reach overhead, bend, stoop, or kneel to inspect products.
• Bending and Stooping: Frequently bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling may be necessary.
