Reports To: CEO FLSA Status: Exempt SUMMARY: The Director of Quality Control will develop, implement, and periodically evaluate a program to ensure the organizations production operations, from raw materials to finished products, meet the quality, integrity, and efficiency standards set by the organization.


Duties and Responsibilities:

· Comply with all necessary health, safety, and environmental policies.

· Develops and maintains quality system processes including but not limited to, production part approval process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Control Plans, Failure Modes, Effect Analysis (FEMA), and Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA).

· Implements and updates to all relevant procedures described in the Quality Management System (QMS).

· Responds to customer rejections and complaints putting in containment actions, root cause analysis, and preventative actions utilizing error-proofing methodologies.

· Develops and maintains the internal and process audits of the Quality Management System (QMS).

· Reports against monthly quality metrics and KPI’s including but not limited to, scrap cost, cost of quality, internal/external rejections, and QPM charts.

· Provides quarterly Management Review reporting including coordination with the management team for applicable KPI reporting from other departments.

· Coordinates with outside sources for necessary lab testing, calibration, quality equipment repair, and sorting at customer sites.

· Stays current and up to date on customer portals, packaging instructions, and deviations.

· Assists quality personnel with receiving inspection, part layout, and final inspection as necessary.

· Coordinates with production and engineering departments on prototype developments.

· Maintains records of water, gas, and electricity in accordance with ISO 14001 requirements.


· Performs other related duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Provides leadership for the development of a quality focused environment utilizing a continuous improvement approach.

· Serves as the management representative for IAFT 16949 and ISO 13001 compliance demonstration.

· Manages and trains quality engineers, quality technicians, layout inspectors, and inspection personnel.

· Education and Experience – High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence) College Degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Five (5) to ten (10) years of Quality, Engineering and/or Project Management experience.

· Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret verbal and written instructions, quality metrics, packaging information, and deviations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisors, clients, staff, vendors, etc.

· Mathematical Skills - Ability to apply concepts such as statistics, calculus, and trigonometry as well as basic concepts like fractions, percentage, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routing database activity, word processing, spreadsheet graphics, etc. This role requires an above average knowledge of Microsoft office.

· Other Qualifications – Using quality and engineering computer software such as Metalix, Draft Sight, Auto-Cad and Solid Works is a plus.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual must be able to remain in a stationary position for 90 percent of the time while operating their computer and performing office work. The individual needs to occasionally move about inside the office and the shop floor. They constantly operate computers and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer printer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly move up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and adjust as necessary.


Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment. Due to the risk of electrical hazards while installing or servicing, additional personal protective equipment and procedures may need to be followed.

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as situations dictate on various jobs and construction sites. Due to exposure to machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipment such as ear and eye protection. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.
