Platinum is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Railcar Repair Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing different repairs and maintenance on railcars in adherence to Platinum QA program. Repairs will be completed within the assigned location(s) ensuring that quality products are delivered to our customers. The repair mechanic will comprehend and implement programs and processes to ensure that all products are safe, compliant and meet or exceed customer expectations.

Skills and Qualifications
•HS Diploma or GED required; Advanced secondary education preferred
•On-going training combining both online and offsite resources will be required
•Experience supervising railcar repairmen preferred
•Extensive knowledge of railcars and tank car anatomy; 3 to 5 years railcar repair experience
•Extensive knowledge of AAR, Transport Canada (TDG), FRA and Car Owner railcar maintenance standards
•Tank car service equipment valve experience
•Ability and willingness to meet all internal and external customer and regulatory suitability requirements required
•NDT-VT, NDT- BT, NDT-PT Level II would be preferred but is not required
•Air Brake Certification pers S-486 (may be obtained within 1 year of employment)
•Clean driving abstract with no suspensions or convictions in the past 3 years
•Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and maneuvering hoses and equipment up to 75 lbs
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and overtime as required
•Willing to work out of town as required
•Arrives to each shift ready to work with a good attitude, ambition and professionalism
•Able to work as part of a team
•Ability to read and write (English) general documentation
•Self-motivated/ independent
•Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Duties and Responsibilities
•Ability to follow work orders for repairs
•Adhere and follow all procedures as per Platinum’s QA program
•Complete light and medium duty railcar repairs including valve repair/replacement, air brake testing, gasket replacement
•Inspect railcars as requested
•Ability to operate equipment required for leak testing
•Strong attention to detail and quality reporting
•Provides management and leadership to facility QA team members
•Integrates quality functions into a multi-discipline work environment
•Responsible for the activities and the assigned facilities and capable of supported the QA program at multiple locations
•Ability to interpret and adhere to the Quality program for assigned location to ensure deliver of a quality product to the customers
•Attend QA training program as required
•Daily reporting through Platinum Solutions applications
•Regular communication with Operations and Senior Management
•Complete daily reports, log inspections and work orders
•Keep up to date with schedule and progress reporting
•Provide excellent customer service while promoting a superior company image
•Other related duties as assigned by management
