We are seeking a dedicated Second-Shift R&D Technician to operate and master advanced FSAM (Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing) equipment. This role is ideal for a hands-on individual with strong mechanical aptitude and a keen willingness to understand how processes, systems, and events interact to impact outcomes. Working in a team-driven environment, you'll focus on equipment operation, thermal process understanding, and identifying chain-of-event impacts to ensure smooth operations and machine uptime. · Must be a US Person according to FAR 22 CFR 120.15 (US Person).
· Minimum 5 years' experience in an additive manufacturing or related mechanical role.
· Ability to take and give direction effectively.
· Demonstrated experience designing fixtures and building parts.
· Experience with non-destructive and/or destructive evaluation techniques.
· Strong understanding of thermal processes and their mechanical impacts.
· Experience in additive manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and motion controls.
· Experience with mechanical testing (tensile, wear, bend, shear testing per ASTM standards).
· Background knowledge or experience in Cold Spray, WAAM, DED, or FSAM.
· Experience with robotic operation (ABB and FANUC robotic systems).
· Understanding of robotic path planning and 3D printing technologies.
· Desire to work in a team-based environment.
· Strong desire to understand both technology and business aspects of operations.
