Job Description:

Under the direction of an HSE Coordinator, the HSE Specialist works with leaders and employees at all levels to ensure safety compliance and buy-in to the company safety program. Coaches, and mentors at all levels to assist in understanding of safe work practices and the "why" behind the adoption of safety as a core Mesa value.


Essential Duties:

Promotes and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements.
Evaluates the organization's procedures, facilities and equipment by conducting inspections to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions.
Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures.
Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events.
May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, resource conservation, or other safety related activities depending on the industry and location.
Ensures compliance with and trains employees on all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
Performs all other duties assigned.


Qualifications


Education:


Required:

Associates degree or equivalent experience.


Preferred:


None


Required:


Experience:

2-4 years safety experience.
Safety incident reporting and safety inspections experience.


Preferred:

Honorably discharged service veterans preferred.


Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Knowledge of OSHA Standards & Compliance.
Knowledge of Safety Policies and Procedures.
Ability and willingness to learn new processes and business functions to facilitate the mission.
Possess the ability to be a team player.
Adaptability and ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
Possess a positive and energetic self-starter attitude, with excellent drive, ambition and work ethic.
Ability to communicate ideas effectively and maintain deadlines.
Strong prioritization , organization, and project management skills.
Excellent communication skills with a strong attention to detail both verbally and written.
Able to work independently and ensure tasks are completed with little supervision.
Ability to work under stress in high pressure situations.
Able to handle frequent interruptions and handle conflict in an effective manner.

Work in extreme cold and/or heat.
