The person in this role will be responsible for leading product development tasks encompassing project management, controls software and electrical design, testing, manufacturing, and regulatory compliance. This includes introducing new innovations to the SmartFlower system as well as improvements with the goals of increased reliability, power generation, and decreasing costs. Technical and occasional field support is also required to assist the SmartFlower Solar field team.


Annual salary starting at $120,000


Job Duties

Lead engineering efforts including new product development and implementation


Lead product reliability and availability improvement projects

Work with third party contract manufacturing and associated quality programs including documentation

Develop and implement system retrofits and upgrades as product evolves

Must be familiar with the overall function of photovoltaic DC and AC solar systems

Must have understanding of control system software design and logic


Focus on manufacturability and cost-out for products

Up to 25% travel Internationally for engineering, manufacturing and supply chain support

This position is in Woburn, MA with easy access to I-93. The work schedule is typical 8:00AM -5:00PM although longer hours will be required based on customer needs. Requirements

Minimum 5 years product development experience with progressively increasing responsibilities

Minimum 5 years of detailed engineering experience in solar or other energy related industries


B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

Ability to work independently, efficiently and proactively on multiple projects under deadlines while maintaining a professional attitude and commitment to quality


Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Fully competent in Microsoft Office Suite

The ability to read plans, specifications, one-line diagrams, equipment submittals, and material data sheets

Knowledge of control systems applied to renewable energy

Proficiency with Python and other similar programming languages

Ability to set clear expectations and deliver performance feedback

Experience with software and project management tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket and Git

Relevant experience in solar tracking or related electro-mechanical products is a plus.
