Overview
The Structural Engineer will paly a key role in designing and analyzing structural steel components, ensuring their safety, stability, and performance. You will work closely with project managers, fabricators, and other engineers to deliver custom steel solutions for a wide variety of projects, from multi-storey buildings to complex industrial structures.
Responsibilities
•Design and review blueprints and structural elements for a variety of buildings and other structures including beams, columns, frames, and connections.
•Developing designs of limited scope and complexity requiring theoretical and practical design knowledge in a specialized field.
•Analyzing design elements for potential trends, technical feasibility, and client or contractual requirements.
•Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and meet project requirements.
•Provide sketches to drafting staff to produce finished drawings.
•Review and approve construction documents, shop drawings, and structural plans for accuracy.
•Provide recommendations to improve design efficiencies where possible.
•Conduct site visits to assess progress, resolve design-related issues, and ensure the quality of installation.
•Perform quality assurance checks to ensure that designs comply with relevant codes and standards.
•Performing other duties as requested.
Qualifications

· Conduct thorough analyses of existing structures to assess their safety and stability. This may involve examining materials, reviewing building codes, and identifying any weaknesses or potential failure points.
•Developing designs of limited scope and complexity requiring theoretical and practical design knowledge in a specialized field
•Analyzing design elements for potential trends, technical feasibility, and client or contractual requirements
•Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and meet project requirements.
•Provide sketches to drafting staff to produce finished drawings.

Responsibilities
•Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree is an asset.
•Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with APEGA.
•Minimum of five years of progressive experience in structural steel design, with a focus on steel fabrication and erection.
•Advanced computer skills and experience in major drafting and design software such as Auto CAD, Revit, STAAD, Tekla, ETABS, S-FRAME or similar.
•Experience with advanced steel detailing and BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes.
•Strong knowledge of Canadian steel design codes and standards.
•Basic understanding of applicable government regulations and regulatory codes
•Strong command of the English language, both written and oral, is essential.
•Excellent communication skills (interpersonal and written) and proven ability to collaborate with team members in a multi-discipline environment
•Strong organizational skills, technical competence and attention to detail
•Ability to meet safety requirements to attend site visits
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $120,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
