About the Goldfield District Project

Located on the Walker Lane trend in Esmeralda County, Nevada, about 30 miles south of Tonopah, the Goldfield District Project can be accessed via U.S. Highway 95 from Las Vegas or Reno. This project is an underexplored property in a prolific mining jurisdiction that provides substantial upside potential.

Goldfield is a conventional open-pit, heap leach project currently progressing technical studies and advanced exploration while undergoing permit modifications in advance of a construction decision.

Goldfield District Project promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.


About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a full-time Superintendent, Environment to join our team in Goldfield District Project in Goldfield, Nevada.

Reporting to the Director, Project Delivery, the Superintendent, Environment will lead environmental and permitting programs for its Nevada-based open pit, heap leach gold project. This is a strategic and hands-on role accountable for advancing permitting, maintaining regulatory compliance, developing closure plans, and fostering strong community relationships. The successful candidate will manage environmental programs, support ESG reporting, and lead stakeholder engagement initiatives to ensure responsible development aligned with local, state, and federal requirements.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Permitting & Compliance

Lead all environmental permitting efforts across federal (e.g., BLM, EPA), state (e.g., NDEP), and local jurisdictions, including NEPA processes and associated EIS/EAs.

Coordinate permitting deliverables and schedules with site leadership, Technical Services, and Legal teams.
Prepare and manage permitting strategies, risk registers, and compliance plans aligned with project milestones.
Ensure the timely submission of permit applications, amendments, and renewals.
Track regulatory developments and advise the project team on implications and compliance pathways.
Oversee environmental management systems and compliance tracking during construction and operations.


Oversight of Technical Scopes for Permitting

Provide oversight and direction for technical scopes required to support permitting, including, but not limited to:
+ Geochemical characterization of waste rock, ore, and tailings to assess acid rock drainage (ARD) and metal leaching (ML) potential. + Hydrogeological studies, including baseline groundwater monitoring, aquifer testing, drawdown modeling, and pit dewatering evaluations. + Surface and groundwater water balance modeling, water quality predictions, and integration with water management plans.
Collaborate with consultants and internal technical teams to ensure data quality, regulatory defensibility, and integration into permitting documents.
Review and approve scopes of work, technical reports, and deliverables related to environmental baseline and impact studies.


Community Relations

Develop and implement strategic communication and engagement plans with local communities and stakeholder groups.
Organize and participate in town halls, consultation sessions, and public meetings.
Build and maintain relationships with regulators, community leaders, local governments, and stakeholder groups.
Support the negotiation and implementation of community agreements or local benefit initiatives (if applicable).
Monitor socio-political and reputational risks and advise leadership accordingly.


Closure & Reclamation Planning

Oversee the development of progressive and final reclamation plans aligned with permitting, geochemical predictions, and hydrological models.
Contribute to Abandonment and Reclamation Obligation (ARO) estimates and financial assurance requirements.
Integrate closure strategy into engineering and permitting documentation to ensure long-term compliance and social license.


Strategic & Cross-Functional Support

Collaborate across disciplines to ensure environmental and permitting inputs align with feasibility study requirements and NI 43-101 technical reports.
Support ESG and sustainability reporting, including disclosures for public filings and stakeholder communications.
Manage consultant teams and interdisciplinary study programs from scoping through delivery.


About You

To qualify, you must have 10-15 years of progressive experience in mining-related environmental permitting, geochemical and hydrogeological study management, and regulatory engagement.

Our ideal candidate will also possess the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Earth Sciences, Hydrogeology, Geochemistry, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Strong knowledge of U.S. federal (NEPA, CWA, RCRA) and Nevada state permitting and environmental compliance frameworks.
Familiarity with ARD/ML evaluations, pit lake modeling, and predictive water quality assessments.
Demonstrated experience in community relations, including public consultation and stakeholder management.
Proven ability to manage consultants, field programs, and multi-disciplinary project teams.
Experience with open pit, heap leach gold operations in the Western U.S.
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage complex permitting scenarios.
Practical knowledge of air and water quality monitoring, biological surveys, and waste management.
Familiarity with stakeholder-sensitive permitting paths and socio-environmental risk mitigation.
Familiarity with ISO 14001, ESG reporting frameworks, and international standards (e.g., IFC Performance Standards).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing reports, memos, and board-level materials.
Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
