Position Summary

Performs technical duties in the Environmental Operations Group to include wastewater sampling; groundwater monitoring well sampling, solid waste management, continuous emission monitoring support, various assessments and inspections and compliance monitoring.


Tasks And Responsibilities

Samples, receives, sets up tests and decontaminates equipment.
Conducts environmental surveys/audits/assessments and collects wastewater, storm water and solid waste samples.
Performs environmental quality work in field and office settings.
Perform daily plant checks to include lake level, manual and field reading.
Daily log books, Chain of Custody’s, and manifesting.
Reviews technical documents to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements.
Monitors emissions to determine compliance with state and federal permits/regulations.
Performs and reports visible emissions readings.
Monitors wastewater discharges to determine compliance with state permits/regulations.
Assists with solid waste disposal and transportation to determine compliance with state and federal regulations.
Arranges for the disposal of non-hazardous wastes.
Inspect facilities to monitor compliance with environmental regulations
Familiarization with Industry facility personnel, locations
Attend daily morning and afternoon meetings and outage/overhaul meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Skills


Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

Awareness of federal, government, state, local environmental regulations and permits.

Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.


Effective written and oral communication skills


Ability to distinguish color.


Ability to obtain Class D Wastewater License


Ability to obtain Method 9 Certification


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the federal, government, state, local environmental regulations and permits
Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes
Knowledge of emission monitoring systems
Knowledge of daily emission reports and emission monitoring systems
Knowledge in conducting environmental stack testing
Knowledge of spill clean-up process
Knowledge of mechanical operations (systems, pumps, valves) to include troubleshooting.
Knowledge in taking samples for water and wastewater outfalls, receives, sets up tests and decontaminates equipment.
Knowledge of environmental audits, site inspections/surveys to determine the extent of compliance/non-compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permits.
Knowledge in monitoring wastewater discharges to determine compliance with state permits/regulations.
Knowledge in monitoring solid waste disposal and transportation to determine compliance with state and federal regulations.
Knowledge of equipment used and the proper use of equipment and troubleshooting abilities of equipment
Knowledge of the techniques needed and troubleshooting abilities to effectively perform the job
Knowledge of Environmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s); provides input on the development of Environmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and assists/leads with implementation/roll out of these procedures.
Knowledge of environmental programs and compliance with standard operating procedures by reviewing work activities.
Method 9 Certification
TCEQ Class C Wastewater License
8 Hour HAZWOPER Certification

Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in a science related field or job related experience in lieu of degree

Working Environment

Work is performed indoors & outdoors. Manual dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Use of computing equipment, telephone, & printer/copier. Ability to travel to and from business related events. After hours work may be required.
