About the Role
The Tool Testing Technologist will be responsible for the assembling, testing, disassembling, and failure analysis of completions tools, including operation of test facilities and associated equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
•Responsible for conducting and documentation of testing projects.
•Responsible for test facility assembly.
•Responsible for following all safety protocols for each test.
•Outlining procurement needs of testing equipment as needed, and ensuring all inputs for testing are available in advance of tests.
•Participate in assembly of new tools and test facilities.
•Failure mode analysis of test facility and tool failures. As well as resolution/solution planning and finding.
•Providing feedback to Engineering Team on designs; Include Engineering team members strategically during testing to evaluate failure modes/troubleshoot.
•Writing and producing testing documentation for new tools including test reports, assembly procedures, raw data, and observations.
•Upkeep of shop equipment including forklift, pump units, hand tools, hydraulics, thermal test enclosures, standard test facilities.
•Maintaining facility upkeep, cleanliness, and maintaining a safe work environment.
Required Abilities, Knowledge, Experience
•Diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
•Able to demonstrate relevant working experience while in shop environment.
•Experience with instrumentation including high-pressure tubing, high-pressure fittings, data recording software.
•Experience with hydraulics including hydraulic units and piston cylinders.
•Experience with high pressure pumps (30,000 psi) is an asset.
•Working knowledge of completion equipment for fracking, thermal, and in-flow control.
•Technical writing experience.
•Previous work in shop environment, lifting equipment up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
•Proficient with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office suite, pressure/temperature recording software.
•Demonstrate safe handling of forklift and shop safety regulations.
•Read, understand, and disseminate manufacturing blueprints and technical drawings.
•Knowledge of precision measuring tools, drafting standards, parts interconnectivity.
•Demonstrate effective communication skills, verbal and written.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
•Working knowledge and previous experience with operating a CNC Lathe and Mill.
•Possess mechanical and technical skills to effectively operate and troubleshoot a CNC machine independently.
•Ability to read technical drawings and printings and utilize key measuring tools.
•Experience with utilizing various hand tools and understanding machine utilization capacity and tooling capabilities.
•Ability to navigate the control panel.
•Strong communication skills to effectively interact with employees and supervisors.
•Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.
•Capable of moving heavy equipment, materials, and supplies up to 23 kg (50lbs).
•Previous knowledge or experience of oil and gas specific threads is an asset.
