Performs skilled task in the operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater system facilities and assets. Performs essential work functions during inclement weather conditions. Does all related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
Operates combination trucks and pumper trucks on a daily basis to clean and maintain gravity sewer mains, sewer lift stations, sewer force mains, grinder tank, effluent tanks, and other assets within the sewer collection system.
Assist with related work (i.e. operation, maintenance and repairs) of sewer system components (i.e. gravity service lines, gravity mains, manholes, force mains, sewer valves, pump stations, and air release valves);
Performs daily inspections and preventative maintenance to combination trucks;
Uses mobile device on a daily basis to obtain and complete work orders and drop repair points for work completed;
Ensures all programs are maintained and data collected is entered into each assigned program (GNET, CentralSquare, Excel, etc.);
Oversees and/or enters permit required confined spaces as needed;
Performs on-call response after hours and on holidays on a rotating basis and responds to emergencies as needed;
Intermediate knowledge of tools, materials, equipment and tasks involved in the operations and maintenance of a sanitary sewer collection system; ability to foresee potential problems and work efficiently to provide solutions; ability to perform basic and/or intermediate math functions; ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and communicate effectively both verbally and audibly; ability to lift 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; ability to move and traverse work sites on unpaved streets, uneven ground and in cluttered work areas; ability to perform strenuous manual labor in all weather and environmental conditions (ex. elevated noise levels, rain, sleet, snow, extreme temperatures); and ability to work and make visual observations day and night; ability to bend, reach, stand for extended periods of time, climb stairs and ladders, twist, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, squat and walk; and ability to drive a vehicle daily.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED.
Possession of a valid Driver’s License according to State of residence. Possession of a Class A CDL is preferred.
Title advancements and/or promotions to various positions depend on an individual’s job performance, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and other special requirements. There is no guarantee of career progression to these or any other positions at the Authority.
· Associate Wastewater System Operator – $18.23+ per hour
· Wastewater System Operator – $19.65+ per hour
· Senior Wastewater System Operator – $21.62+ per hour
· Wastewater Collections Crew Leader – $23.78+ per hour
THIS POSITION IS OPEN IN THE WASTEWATER COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT. THE PAY RANGE FOR THE ASSOCIATE WASTEWATER SYSTEM OPERATOR POSITION IS $18.23 - $26.43 PER HOUR. DEADLINE OF RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS IS 5:00 PM, FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2025.
