Solar Turbines, Inc. is looking for a qualified person to serve as an experienced individual contributor on Environmental, Health and/or Safety (EHS) projects and assignments that are complex and that support and enhance facility performance and compliance. This position develops, coordinates, and/or supervises selected environmental compliance programs/projects and provides overall support with regard to environmental regulatory compliance throughout the facility. Independently perform most work assignments. Performs assignments to assist in assuring a safe and healthy work environment and compliance with environmental goals addressing a variety of business topics. May be assigned to a support function requiring highly specialized training to develop proficiency. The work results contribute to major achievement of overall Company objectives and directly affects the quality, timeliness and cost-effectiveness of environmental programs/projects. Work leads to improvements in compliance, equipment, procedures, processes, and/or methods. This position has frequent inter-organizational and/or outside contacts related to environmental management/compliance matters. Interfaces at various levels of management and represents Company as facility contact with regulatory agencies
Hazardous waste control; movement from collection points to the HW yard, maintaining appropriate logs, maintain the HW yard in a compliant and acceptable condition, provide training to other HW technicians and our customer base on proper labeling techniques, and any other duties deemed necessary by the department manager.
Oil/water separator; interface with maintenance oilers to qualify and accept spent coolants, scrap oils, or other liquids that can be introduced into the recycling operations. Be cognizant of ultra filtration and reverse osmosis technologies, being able to troubleshoot problems both chemically and mechanically.
Water treatment plant operations: know the significance of recycling utilizing the oil/water separator effluent. Develop understanding and support day to day operations of all aspects of the waste water treatment plant.
Be an active participant in the monthly environmental/safety plant audits, helping departments on their self-audits both by example and training, provide EH&S with necessary chemical activities that are needed for regulatory reports, be available for technical information during regulatory inspections, be cognizant of existing and new technologies emerging for the enhancement of our treatment activities, provide technical help for contractors working in our facility, provide accurate reports on the operations in the environmental compliance department, design, implement, and maintain logs of activities in the various operations.
Supervise necessary personnel to ensure emergency equipment and materials are in a ready response posture, participate as an emergency responder, conduct follow-ups of emergencies to assure they will be handled properly in the future.
