2025 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

Overall Purpose

The Engineering group plans, designs, and orders materials for our distribution and transmission facilities (lines and substations) in a cost-effective manner to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable delivery of power to our customers. Groups include: Distribution Engineering, Third Party Attachments, Substation Design Engineering, Substation Control Engineering, and the Civil & Transmission Line Engineering.

Electrical Engineering Interns Are Sought For Full-time (40 Hours/week) Positions For The Summer 2025 Internship Program. We Are Filling Multiple Positions, And The Successful Candidates Will Be Considered For Several Areas Of Engineering To Include

Education/Experience

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an ABET-Accredited BS or MS program in Electrical Engineering. Candidates must have completed their sophomore year of studies.

Skills/Abilities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Requirements

Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with a minimum of two days in-office per week, and occassional field visits. Candidates must be within close proximity to Pittsburgh.

Other

Applicants must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check, drug screen, and social media screen.

Hybrid Work

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
