In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing the month-end close process and providing crucial accounting support for accounts payable and project accounting functions. This position offers growth opportunity, with the expectation that the Accounting Manager will assume full responsibility for all payroll functions within one year. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of our financial operations.
Responsibilities to Include:
Month-End Close:
•Manage all aspects of the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements.
Project Controller Support:
•Prepare and make daily bank deposits of customer payments, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.
•Generate and distribute weekly hours reports to support project management.
•Manage the accounting for shop inventory, including tracking receipts, disbursements, and performing periodic reconciliations.
•Track operating expenses against budget and provide relevant information to the Project Controller.
•Assist with job cost allocations and other project accounting tasks as needed.
Accounts Payable Support:
•Collect and maintain insurance certificates from vendors and subcontractors.
•Obtain waivers from subcontractors and ensure proper documentation.
•Prepare pre-qualification applications.
Payroll (Growth Responsibility
- Full Ownership Expected Within One Year): Assume increasing responsibility for all payroll functions, including processing, compliance, and reporting, with full ownership expected within one year.
•Process employee expense reports in the designated system, ensuring adherence to company policies and timely reimbursement.
•Manage the accurate and timely filing of sales and property tax returns.
•Manage the renewal process for all required company licenses and permits.
•Oversee office administrative tasks, including mail distribution and shared responsibility for answering and directing phone calls professionally.
Qualifications:
•Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
•Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with demonstrated experience in managing key accounting processes.
•Strong understanding of GAAP and proven experience managing the month-end close process.
•Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., [mention specific software if applicable]) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis).
•Excellent attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Strong organizational and time management skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
Other:
•Experience with payroll processing and compliance is highly desirable.
•Daily office attendance is required (this is not a remote position).
