Job Summary
The Buyer will continually strive to increase company profitability by purchasing materials at low, competitive costs through consideration of the total landed cost and the use of economic order quantities.
Duties
•
Responsible for ordering stock items, non-stock items, and items as designated from the order templates.
•
Assist in sourcing and quoting special products and spot buys in a timely manner.
•
Follow-up on past due purchase orders.
•
Assist with part number and template maintenance and creating new numbers as needed.
•
Assist with price maintenance within the computer system and other documents as needed.
•
Coordinate vendor activity and negotiations.
•
Issue purchase orders and adjustments.
•
Actively interact with the Corporate Supply Chain Manager:
•
Evaluate existing and potential suppliers, as well as make recommendations to change supply sources.
•
Assist with the creation and maintenance of work instructions as needed.
•
Perform all receiving process functions including lifting and opening packages, packing slip/purchase order verification, and computer receipt procedure.
•
Restock storeroom within stock rotation guidelines, deliver items to appropriate departments as needed.
•
Ensure adherence to established safety standards.
•
Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
•

Drive a vehicle
•
Exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, vibration, flammable/combustible/explosive materials, biological hazards, extreme heat and cold, wet or humid conditions.
Education/Experience
•
Associate degree preferred. A minimum of 1 year’s work experience in a similar position will be considered.
•
Good interpersonal and customer service skills - being courteous, professional, and helpful.
•
Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must possess tactfulness, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
•
Ability to operate a wide variety of office machines, such as Computer, Copier, Scanner, etc.
