Commercial Construction Foreman

Story Construction is a 100% employee-owned general contractor, construction manager, and design-builder based out of Ames, IA. Position Summary:

Foremen play a crucial role in overseeing a crew of field staff to ensure work is being completed on time, with quality, and safely by monitoring the “Six Elements” (information, environment, manpower, materials, tools, and equipment). Foremen are also responsible for creating an environment that promotes the growth and retention of their crew members through mentorship and training.

Qualifications:

Travel: Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected; jobsites are located throughout central Iowa and across the state.

Working Conditions:

Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, loud noises, and more within OSHA standards. Job duties are often performed in close physical proximity to other people. Employees often work in outdoor conditions that include inclement weather such as heat, humidity, cold, wind, and dust. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, stand for long periods of time, walk for moderate-to-long distances on varying surface conditions, climb, crawl, crouch, reach, grip, push, and pull without issue. Must possess adequate communicative, auditory, and visual capabilities to avoid safety hazards.
