We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our team and play a pivotal role in the success of our projects.

Estimator – Agricultural Construction & Manure Management Systems

Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our team in supporting agricultural construction projects, with a strong emphasis on manure management systems. This role is critical in developing accurate project cost estimates and collaborating closely with internal teams, vendors, and clients to ensure the successful execution of projects across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Project Assessment

•

Conduct on-site visits to evaluate project needs following the company’s estimation process.

•

Assess the scope of work for agricultural construction, with a focus on dairy and feedlot facilities.

•

Document existing site conditions and potential obstacles.

•

Coordinate with clients to understand specific operational requirements and expectations.

2. Cost Calculation

•

Accurately determine material quantities and costs for:

+ Concrete foundations and flatwork + Steel fabrication (e.g., mezzanines, stairs, gates) + Manure management and handling systems + Ventilation and cooling systems + Equipment acquisition and installation

•

Estimate labor hours and associated costs.

•

Include equipment rental and subcontractor expenses as applicable.

3. Bid Preparation

•

Develop clear, detailed, and competitive cost estimates.

•

Compile and submit comprehensive bid packages tailored to project specifications.

•

Analyze and interpret technical requirements and construction documents.

•

Incorporate warranty terms, including the standard 90-day labor warranty.

4. Technical Skills

•

Read and interpret technical construction drawings and blueprints.

•

Utilize estimation software and digital takeoff tools efficiently.

•

Ensure compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.

•

Maintain knowledge of construction standards and practices specific to WA, OR, and ID.

5. Collaboration

•

Partner with project managers to align on project scope, timelines, and deliverables.

•

Coordinate with the in-house fabrication team for feasibility and material planning.

•

Communicate with suppliers and authorized dealers (e.g., Valmetal, Hatfield Manufacturing, GEA).

•

Serve as a key liaison with clients during the estimation phase to maintain transparency and trust.

6. Documentation

•

Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, assumptions, and revisions.

•

Track actual costs versus estimates for performance analysis.

•

Create and manage project timelines and scopes of work.

•

Ensure consistent documentation to support project execution and post-project reviews.

7. Market Analysis

•

Monitor and analyze market trends, including material pricing and availability.

•

Cultivate and maintain supplier relationships to secure optimal pricing and delivery schedules.

•

Evaluate competitive market rates and adjust estimates to reflect regional pricing differences (WA, OR, ID).

8. Quality Control

•

Rigorously review all estimates for completeness and accuracy.

•

Verify compliance with internal standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

•

Cross-check material takeoffs, quantities, and pricing for accuracy.

•

Continuously refine estimation practices to improve consistency and precision.

Qualifications:

•

Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction estimation, preferably in the agricultural or heavy civil sectors.

•

Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.

•

Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.

•

Working knowledge of construction regulations in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho.

•

Familiarity with dairy and feedlot facility systems and agricultural construction practices.
