Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled House Plan Drafter to join our growing design team. This role focuses on creating accurate and comprehensive residential construction drawings while offering the opportunity to cross-train in civil drafting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in architectural drafting, a keen eye for detail, and a willingness to broaden their skill set into civil site planning and infrastructure design.
Key Responsibilities:
•
Prepare detailed residential house plans, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, in compliance with local building codes and company standards.
•
Revise and update drawings based on feedback from clients, engineers, and project managers.
•
Collaborate with architects, designers, and engineers to ensure design intent is accurately represented.
•
Conduct quality control checks on drawings to maintain accuracy and consistency.
•
Assist in the preparation of permit and construction document packages.
•
Participate in cross-training for civil drafting, including site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, and related civil infrastructure drawings.
•
Support the civil design team with drafting tasks as needed, applying learned skills and expanding technical knowledge.
•
Maintain organized project files and documentation.
•
Stay current with drafting technologies, software updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
•
Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Architecture, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field.
•
Proficiency in AutoCAD (required); experience with Revit, Civil 3D, or similar software is a plus.
•
2+ years of experience in residential drafting preferred; civil drafting experience is a plus but not required.
•
Strong understanding of residential construction methods and building codes.
•
Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.
•
Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
•
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
•
Willingness to learn and adapt to new drafting disciplines.
