Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a dependable and safety-conscious. The main responsibility is to assist drillers in our quarry operations. This role involves supporting the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment, as well as performing general labor duties to ensure efficient and safe drilling operations. We are looking for someone who will be a team player and is comfortable working in rugged outdoor environments.
Responsibilities
•Perform routine maintenance and inspections on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
•Maximize the usage of all drill supplies.
•Collaborate with team members to plan and execute drilling operations effectively.
•Maintain compliance with safety regulations, including MSHA standards, during all operations.
•Ability to work unsupervised while maintaining efficiency and safe work practices.
•Document daily activities, including equipment usage and site conditions, for reporting purposes.
•Troubleshoot mechanical issues that may arise during drilling operations.
•Fill work truck with fuel and water, and fill drills and air compressors accordingly.
•Grease the steels as requested by the drill operator.
•Shovel the top of holes clean from drill cuttings.
•Assist with using the power wrench when steels get locked.
•Responsible for checking all drill fluid levels including; engine oil, hydraulic oil, rock oil, compressor oil, anti-freeze and fuel, and fill as needed.
•Helps to maintain a clean jobsite by picking up all tools and equipment to secure the jobsite each day.
•Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
•Other duties as assigned.
Skills
•Some mechanical knowledge to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
•Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively on-site.
Qualifications
•Valid Driver's License with clean driving record for the last two years.
•One year experience in the construction industry is a plus.
•Experience as a construction laborer.
•Must hold a high level of common sense relative to equipment and machinery operation.
•Basic mechanical skills and willingness to learn.
•Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
•MSHA certification - if not currently certified, the company will pay to have you trained.
Physical Requirements
•Outdoor quarry environment with exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
•Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
•Work on uneven and loose surfaces in varying weather environments.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
