Job Description Summary

The Test Engineer is responsible for providing test capabilities, that include the application of instrumentation and the acquisition of engineering test data to support the Gas Turbine New Products Introduction Department, the Gas Turbine Engineering Department, and the other departments of in the development of new gas turbine products and resolution of Power System’s customer technical complaints.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Test Engineer is responsible for the hardware modification process, ensuring correct instrumentation methodology is followed by Technicians and suppliers.
Assisting in the development and documentation of Hardware Modifications.
Operation of all instrumentation and data systems required to conduct gas turbine engineering development tests. This requires the knowledge and applicable experience with instrumentation used in the measurement of temperature, pressure, dynamic pressure, strain, Rotor Dynamics, and other related parameters associated with gas turbine development tests.
Responsible for execution of laboratory and field validation testing, inspection and data acquisition for use in the design and validation of products and services.
Responsible for design and construction of test facilities, test rigs, instrumentation systems and the development of test software
Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college OR a High School Diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience with Turbo Machinery Validation Testing
Previous experience with Gas Turbine NPI Instrumentation (New Product Introduction); setup and operation of Dynamic Data Acquisition Systems at Customer sites.


Eligibility Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
This position is 100% onsite at the GE Vernova Greenville, SC plant
Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%


Desired Characteristics

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills
Project leadership skills specifically around Hardware schedules and ability to work in team environment
Product knowledge of GE gas turbine, generators, Steam Turbines, and Aeroderivative units


Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this position is $98,400.00 - 131,200.00. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity. This posting is expected to close on March 12, 2025 or thereafter.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
