Field Technicians are responsible for driving a company truck to job sites, collecting samples, and bringing them back to the lab for prep and testing. This position requires a moderate amount of lifting and applicants should be able to lift around 50 pounds several times throughout the day. The primary material that will be sampled is coal. The field technician is responsible for keeping accurate documentation of sample data and environmental conditions under which the material was sampled. Field technicians will also determine the amount of material that has been loaded into barges. This is done through weight determination techniques, also known as barge gauging.
