About This Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Corporate Reporting and Accounting and based in our Calgary head office, this position is an integral part of the financial reporting team, whose primary responsibility is to meet the Company’s external reporting and continuous disclosure requirements.

Job functions will involve:

•

Preparing and analyzing financial reports and management’s discussion and analysis for external and internal reporting, including supporting schedules and peer research

•

Comparing external disclosure documents for consistency

•

Researching, analyzing and preparing accounting memos, calculations and disclosures for routine and complex transactions and other matters

•

Completing research projects related to the adoption of new accounting standards (including IFRS 9 and IFRS 18) and policies

•

Preparing corporate journal entries and account reconciliations, including leases, financial instruments and share-based compensation

•

Assisting with internal controls, including being the first point of contact within the organization and helping with design of new processes and improvements

•

Assisting in the annual filings for ESTMA and completing financial surveys for Statistics Canada

•

Actively maintaining the financial reporting software with a continuous improvement mindset

•

Acting as the first point of contact with external auditors

•

Other ad-hoc and accounting projects as required

Required Skills & Qualifications:

•

Chartered Professional Accountant or at minimum has passed their Common Final Examination (CFE)

•

Knowledge of IFRS and continuous disclosure securities regulations

•

Knowledge of accounting and information systems

•

Detail oriented with the ability to think broadly and strategically

•

Experience with internal control over financial reporting and/or integrated audits

•

Effective communication and presentation skills

•

High-performing individual able to meet deadlines based on broad guidelines

•

Ability to see the overall business context in which the finance group operates

•

Oil & Gas experience would be an asset
