About Potash

The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.

Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Work Location

This role will be based at the BHP Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week.

As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Jansen site. BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a relocation allowance.

Purpose

The Principal Rock Mechanics will provide technical expertise in the geotechnical characterization, design, and instrumentation of underground rock excavations. They will be responsible to plan, develop and direct the mine geotechnical monitoring scope (e.g. extensometers, ground support, etc.) and the QA/QC of said installations. The role will provide in field guidance to the Production Team, infield verification of ground support installation and ground control analysis. Ensures the scope of planned geotechnical services are enabled and scheduled in the production execution plan/strategy.
