SUMMARY

Pacific Clay Products, a brick manufacturing company in Lake Elsinore, CA is seeking a Grinding Plant Operator, responsible for running grinding plant and related machinery, performing routine maintenance of machinery and maintaining proper moisture levels to ensure proper clay mixes.

Must be willing and physically able to work general labor duties as needed when not performing duties of regular position.

All positions will begin through a temporary agency for the 1st 30 days. Those who succeed in their position will become Pacific Clay employees and a member of the United Steelworkers Union.


Training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Operates dry pan, elevators, shaker screens, and feeder conveyors.


Cleans chutes and screens.

Maintains proper moisture and keeps records of moisture readings.

Keeps scraper plows and scraper plates properly adjusted.


Performs routine maintenance on machinery.


Performs other work as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of equipment and machinery. Knowledge of proper raw materials mixture and moisture settings. Ability to recognize equipment malfunction. Ability to write reports and perform simple arithmetic.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate with employees and supervisor in person and in English. Ability to read, interpret and act on written orders. Ability to understand and follow company procedures.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Forklift Certification –training provided


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle or grip objects, tools or controls and talk, walk and hear. The employee is constantly required to stand and occasionally sit and walk. Will frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to hear oral conversations, telephone calls and loudspeaker announcements are required for this position.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The employee will work indoors and outdoors. The employee is exposed to wind, dust and occasionally rain. Adverse conditions include high heat, humidity and cold. The employee will wear hearing protection and eye protection. The employee will work with various chemicals, oils and grease.

Successful candidate must submit to a post offer pre-employment physical exam, drug screen and background check.
