Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our machinery runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Duties

•

Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues with heavy equipment such as forklifts, material handlers, skidsteers, loaders and balers.

•

Develop preventive maintenance schedule and perform routine maintenance on machinery as needed.

•

Order, assemble and disassemble machinery components as needed for repairs or upgrades.

•

Fabricate parts and components to ensure optimal performance of equipment.

•

Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.

•

Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and inventory of parts.

•

Develop and execute preventive maintenance plan for all equipment.

•

Develop and establish a reliable network of parts suppliers for different types of equipment.

Skills

•

Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintenance and heavy equipment operation.

•

Proficiency in welding techniques for metal fabrication and repair tasks.

•

Ability to operate forklifts and other industrial equipment safely.

•

Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.

•

Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.

•

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

•

Ability to read, write and speak English.

•

Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

•

Experience in heavy industrial or scrap metal recycling environment a plus.

Physical Requirements:

•

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or bend.

•

Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather. Job will involve some inside work at a computer.

•

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

•
