Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy machinery and equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our machinery runs smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our operations.
Duties
•Inspect and diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues with heavy equipment such as forklifts, material handlers, skidsteers, loaders and balers.
•Develop preventive maintenance schedule and perform routine maintenance on machinery as needed.
•Order, assemble and disassemble machinery components as needed for repairs or upgrades.
•Fabricate parts and components to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
•Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
•Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and inventory of parts.
•Develop and execute preventive maintenance plan for all equipment.
•Develop and establish a reliable network of parts suppliers for different types of equipment.
Skills
•Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in maintenance and heavy equipment operation.
•Proficiency in welding techniques for metal fabrication and repair tasks.
•Ability to operate forklifts and other industrial equipment safely.
•Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently.
•Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship.
•Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
•Ability to read, write and speak English.
•Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
•Experience in heavy industrial or scrap metal recycling environment a plus.
Physical Requirements:
•While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or bend.
•Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather. Job will involve some inside work at a computer.
•The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
