Lead Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing the tasks required to install, repair, modify, overhaul, diagnose, test, and maintain power plant equipment and systems. This position also assumes a lead role in developing a high-performance, team-orientated environment.

Essential Functions

•

Strictly adhere to and enforce safety, environmental and operational procedures as required by ORMAT, CAPP, and OSHA.

•

Responsible for welding and fabrication of pipe spools, flanges, fittings, and structural items.

•

Responsible for conducting root cause analysis, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment.

•

Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks.

•

Ensures spare parts and materials are available for the completion of work orders.

•

Provides recommendations for improvements.

•

Assists plant supervisors with the evaluation process and continuous development and training of staff.

•

Informs contractors of job performance and safety requirements and oversees work as performed.

•

Completes all required operator training to provide plant support and casualty response.

•

Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.

•

Must be able to work overtime as required.

•

Must be able to travel extensively to other locations, including rural areas to work on other projects.

•

Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner, enter and exit vehicle without assistance, remain alert while driving for continuous period of time and read and understand maps.

•

Must be able to operate a forklift, crane, rig loads and/or a backhoe.

Other Responsibilities

•

Performs environmental and general housekeeping duties.

•

Attends Monthly Safety and Maintenance training.

•

Perform other duties as directed.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

•

The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school with five (5) years of experience in power plant mechanics or other specialized field.

•

Must have knowledge of and compliance with environmental regulations and procedures.

•

Must have thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment, turbine/generator, flow process, and the ability to disassemble and assemble all parts of a machine and support equipment according to the manufacturer’s specification.

•

Must have excellent communication, problem solving and decision making ability.

•

The ability to read and follow written procedures and interpret P&ID and electrical drawings.

•

Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

•

Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills.

•

Must be able to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.

•

Must be able to communicate with other employees and read and write at a level that will enable to perform the work in a safe and efficient manner.

•

Must be able to communicate verbally and visually in a clear and effective manner including in noisy and low illumination environments.

•

Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spread sheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet.

•

Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMATs auto insurance carrier.

•

May be required to obtain a Class B or Class A CDL – Tank Endorsement.

Physical Requirements

•

The ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions and 75 pounds from the floor to the waist.

•

Must be able to climb ladders, climb to and work off of elevated platforms, ladders and walkways.

•

Must be able to work in confined spaces and in harsh weather conditions.

•

Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.

•

Job requires sitting and/or standing for long periods of time with moderate bending, stooping, and kneeling.
