POSITION – Union: Lead Street Technician

NUMBER OF POSITIONS: 2

LOCATION: CT - Orange - 60 Marsh Hill Rd

WAGE RANGE: $52.81 - $57.64

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, lays and repairs new mains and services, operates Mains & Services trucks, tows small trailers, operates compressors, pumps, generators and sandblasting equipment, and keeps tools and equipment in order.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

•

Under general supervision, makes permanent and/or temporary repair as directed to any size main, service and associated installation.

•

Under general supervision, tests and gases out new mains and services.

•

Shores, bridges and braces excavations.

•

Operates power drilling, tapping and cutting machines, and pressure control equipment.

•

When called upon, will lead the crew in the absence of the Construction Supervisor and complete necessary paper work for processing the completed order, including the completion of the SCG Material Issue Ticket for returning excess parts or receiving additional parts.

•

When called upon, will inspect new installations by outside contractor and complete necessary paper work for processing the completed order, including the completion of the SCG Material Issue Ticket for returning excess parts or receiving additional parts.

•

When called upon, will act as inspector and installer on bell joint clamping operations done by outside contractors and complete necessary paperwork for processing the completed order.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have all the qualifications of Street Technician A and, in addition:

•

Demonstrate an ability to perform all phases of Street work in a neat, competent and workmanlike manner.

•

Prove competent in the operation of Street vehicles.

•

Must demonstrate leadership ability.
