Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture of Qatar Energy & ExxonMobil, has an exciting opportunity in Engineering at our Sabine Pass, TX location (approximately 10 minutes from Port Arthur, TX). The Machinery Engineer, reporting to the Machinery & Reliability Engineering Supervisor, serves as a technical authority for machinery. This role involves input to maintenance strategies and planning, enhancing system performance utilizing various surveillance tools. Additionally, the Machinery Engineer collaborates within the Company to promote continuous improvement in asset maintenance and operations, ensuring optimal asset availability.
This position has responsibilities during the Operations Readiness stage and will phase Operations support after plant start up. The Machinery Engineer will support all rotating equipment within Golden Pass, including the new LNG Plant, Pipeline compression facilities, and the existing Import terminal.
Key scope during Operations Readiness stage includes assessing equipment criticality, developing equipment strategies, developing crash plans, developing maintenance programs, and commissioning support. Post LNG plant start up, the Machinery Engineer is expected to continue to support the base business through troubleshooting field issues, conducting failure analysis, initiating facilities modifications based on safety, reliability or production drivers, and shutdown support.
•Operations Readiness Stage
•Lead development of scope of work for specialized service agreements for machinery assets.
•Lead selection and development of machinery surveillance tools.
•Support developing of necessary work aids and procedures.
•Engage with Project Team on deliverables and support during commissioning and start-up activities for pipeline and LNG assets.
•Providing general operations and maintenance support for all machinery trains within the Plant and Pipeline facilities.
•Assisting in the development of annual goals, objectives, and stewardship plans.
•Program documentation and implementation plans.
•Annual work plans for program activities to incorporate into the overall GPLNG annual work plan as part of the budgeting cycle.
•Preparing MOCs for the review and endorsement of program deviations.
•Supporting Operations and Maintenance to ensure that proper results and completion reports are established for all program activities.
•Developing potential alternative or new technologies for deployment with Engineering SMEs.
•Stewarding activities including KPIs.
•Offering technical support regarding Machinery Integrity Program requirements to Operations owners of machinery equipment. Examples of supportive activities include Developing work scopes for contracted Machinery Integrity Program tasks.
•Fitness-for-service evaluations using internal and external SMEs as required.
•Participation in machinery-related risk assessments and the development of corrective and mitigating actions.
•Contributing to the analysis of failures occurring between program task intervals.
•Assisting with the development of machinery strategies.
•Maintaining relationships with key vendors and equipment manufacturers for parts, services, and Engineering support.
•Support day-to-day surveillance of critical machinery to ensure optimized operation.
•Troubleshoot machinery issues in the field and evaluate related alarms.
•Initiate machinery modification opportunities to address safety, reliability, or production improvement opportunities.
•Identify critical spare and 2-year operating spare parts and determining storage and preservation requirements for machinery equipment.
•Support operations in developing operator care programs for machinery assets.
•Support facility shutdown activities from planning through field execution and start up.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position:
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent industry experience
Minimum Experience Required Of The Position
•8-10 years of experience in a rotating equipment role at an Oil & Gas facility, including LNG facilities (preferred), refineries, offshore, or gas processing facilities.
•Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, in particular heavy duty gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, large pumps, and vibration monitoring systems.
•Knowledge of oil and gas industry codes and practices.
•Oil and Gas industry safety standards and requirements.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required Of The Position

•Equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.

•Collaborations with operators, engineers, and vendors.
•Analyzing trends from equipment monitoring systems (e.g. vibration, temperature, performance surveillance).
•Using data to predict maintenance needs or process improvements.
•Ability to adjust to changing operational conditions.
•Guiding maintenance teams and younger engineers.
•Keeping up with new technologies, materials, and industry practices within the machinery space.
•Familiarity with Process Safety Management (PSM) process such as HAZID, HAZOP, What-If analyses.
•Participates in the Management of Change process.
•Experience facilitating Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) practices to understand the causes for equipment failures / upsets to determine corrective actions for the assets.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
