About the role:

We are currently seeking an

Engineering Manager

to join our Technical Services team at our Bear Run Mine. Bear Run Mine is the largest surface coal mine in the Eastern United States and produces high quality thermal coal that is loaded onto haul trucks and then shipped by rail. It uses draglines, dozers and shovels to extract and load the coal. Bear Run has approximately 240 million tons of provable and probable reserves and serves industrial facilities and customers that provide power for millions of residents in Indiana, and customers of electric co-ops and utilities beyond the region.

This role will control, develop, manage and coordinate the provision of engineering services so that results are achieved on time and on budget, and to agreed standards of quality

Duties will include:

•

Plan, direct and lead the work of direct report(s), crew or team

•

Develop business strategy to promote the organization’s recognized engineering competence and market advantage

•

Select, develop, and deploy engineering expertise to ensure projects are completed in accordance with budgetary and quality requirements

•

Develop engineering standards and policy within the organization

•

Develop and control departmental budgets

•

Act as liaison for other members of the organization, project teams and clients to promote the company’s market position

•

Manage the engineering function in a professional and profitable manner

•

Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements

•

Other duties as assigned by the company

This position will work Monday-Friday but may also require the necessity to work weekends, holidays, or another shift as deemed necessary.

About you:

•

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an engineering function preferably in coal or hard rock mining.

•

3 years of supervisor or management experience strongly preferred.

•

Strong knowledge of MS Excel is a must.

•

Working knowledge of mine design/planning software such as Vulcan or AutoCad strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

•

Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift

•

Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles

•

Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders

•

Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA

•

Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination

•

Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 – 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift

•

Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area

•

Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
