Job Overview: We are seeking a motivated and skilled Collection Officer to manage early-stage mortgage delinquencies and assist borrowers in exploring repayment options. The ideal candidate will have a background in mortgage collections, familiarity with federal housing guidelines, and proficiency with loan servicing software.
Delinquency Management: Handle mortgage accounts that are 1-2 months past due, working with borrowers to bring accounts current.
Customer Support and Education: Provide guidance on repayment options and financial solutions to help borrowers through temporary financial hardships.
Loss Mitigation: Collaborate with borrowers to implement solutions such as forbearance, repayment plans, or loan modifications.
Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all collection practices comply with relevant guidelines, documenting all interactions within the loan servicing platform.
Professional Communication: Maintain a positive relationship with customers while effectively negotiating repayment terms.
Collections Experience: Proven experience in collections, preferably within the mortgage sector and handling early-stage delinquencies.
MSP (Mortgage Servicing Platform) Knowledge: Proficiency in MSP or similar loan servicing software for updating accounts and logging activities.
Understanding of FHA, Freddie Mac, and Fannie Mae Guidelines: Knowledge of federal housing programs, eligibility requirements, and compliance standards.
Strong Communication and Negotiation Skills: Ability to engage professionally and empathetically with borrowers.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in assessing situations and identifying appropriate, compliant solutions.
