Coatings Inspector NACE I


Direct Report: Quality Manager

Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in industrial coating systems. A minimum of 2 years experience coating ASME and API fabrications.

Responsibilities: Coating Inspector shall be responsible for industrial coating applications for both field and shop applications.

Coating Inspector shall have good knowledge base of SSPC, NACE, AMPP, and industry specifications and procedures.
Coating Inspector shall be proficient with Microsoft, Adobe, and other computer applications.
Skilled in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication that includes good listening, providing clear direction and effective feedback.
Ability to speak, write, read, and interpret the English language.
Ability to pass Respiratory Fit Test and wear respiratory protection (Full face, ½ Face and Supplied Air Respiratory Protection).

Coating Inspector shall oversee the following operations:

Proper selection and testing of abrasive media
Blasting in accordance with SSPC-SP standards
Coating system meets customer specifications
Environmental conditions
Provide best practice operations and direction to applicators
Witness mixing, pot life, flash times, and recoat time windows

Coating Inspector shall perform the following testing operations:

Follow customer & internal quality plans
Contact customers and 3rd party inspectors of witness and hold points
Blasting (Surface) profiles
Visual Inspection of Pipe Coating Systems
Chloride testing of surface
Chloride testing of abrasive media
Holiday Testing
Adhesion Testing


Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work in elements and standard environmental conditions – heat and cold.
Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. when required.
Must be able to stand, climb, crawl as required in a standard work shift.
